Local Housing Market Looking Up

Good news about the local housing market: 2010 is already looking better than 2009.

Home sales for January and February 2010 were both higher than January and February of 2009. For this January, there was a modest increase of 2% in home sales (89 homes sales vs. 87 sales in 1/09). The 2010 edge continued to expand to 15% in February (107 home sales vs. 91 sales in 2/09). Here’s a glimpse of how the BCS Housing Market looked in February 2010:

Home Sales: 107
Dollar Volume: 19,685,773
Average Price: 184,000
Median Price: 165,300
Total Listings: 1,439
Months Inventory: 7.8

We are hopeful that this trend will continue as we enter the busiest season in real estate. We are encouraged that our local market continues to resiliently weather the recession quite well.
